Supplemental Info for Comparative evidence for a close
relationship between the dimorphic prosthecate bacteria Hyphomonas
neptunium and Caulobacter crescentus
Supplementary Documents
-
Supplemental Document 1: Details on the Shotgun Sequencing, Assembly and
Closure of the genome sequence of the prokaryote Hyphomonas
neptunium ATCC 15444
Supplementary Figures
-
Supplementary Figure 1: Arrangement of H. neptunium flagellar and chemotaxis
genes. Arrows indicate ORFs with the locus numbers indicated above the
arrows. Putative flagellar and chemotaxis genes are indicated below
the arrows. Note that the ORFs in the top three lines are
contiguous. Red arrows indicate ORFs for which the best BLAST match is
a homolog from S. pomeroyi DSS-3, while
yellow arrows indicate ORFs for which the best BLAST match is from
another bacterium. White arrows indicate ORFs that do not have a
significant BLAST match.
-
Supplementary Figure 2: Distribution of flagellar (red) and chemotaxis (blue)
genes in the genomes of H. neptunium, S. pomeroyi, and C. crescentus. Each
genome is represented by a linear axis, 500 kb per line. The genes transcribed
from left to right are shown above the axis in three layers, which signify
the three different reading frames. Genes transcribed from right to left are
shown below the axis. The thick bars underneath indicate statistically
significant clusters (p<0.01) identified by r-scan statistics
(Dembo & Karlin, 1992, Karlin, Mrazek, & Campbell, 1996).
